Just outside LUMA the city opens to calm coves, skyline views, and wildlife you can’t see from a cable car. With Dogpatch Paddle you’re on the water fast: expert guides, premium gear, and a focus on safety.

This is the only-in-Mission Bay side of San Francisco. As a LUMA guest you get concierge-level attention and easy booking, so the adventure fits into your stay rather than taking it over.

Join us for kayaking or paddle boarding, or sweat it out in a barrel sauna and take a cold plunge in the Bay.

We run from two places. The Mission Creek Boathouse is on Berry Street, the closest water to the hotel and the launch for Giants game days. Crane Cove Park is our home base on Illinois Street, with the shop, the sauna and the widest choice of boats and boards.

Good to know

What’s includedThe boat or board, a paddle, a life jacket and a dry bag on request. Lockers, a changing room and a rinse station at Crane Cove.

Experience neededNone for a rental or a lesson. Our sit-on-top kayaks are stable and the water off both launches is protected. Two of the three guided tours do ask for paddling experience, and each one says so on the lessons and tours page.

AgesFrom 7 years old in a tandem with an adult. Single kayaks from 10 with an adult renting alongside, or from 13 with an adult watching from shore.

What to wearAthletic layers you don’t mind getting wet, secure sandals or water shoes, a hat and sun protection. Full list on preparing to paddle.
